Cheeky session having missed a good one saturday doing chores.
Had couple bits to pick up en-route, but was on the water by midday and planed off the beach on the 7.3m Ram and Hawk 123 combo.
Current seemed pretty strong and found myself a little downwind after couple runs, losing all ground on the inside !!
Went for some longer balsts and avoided the inside lull / rip zone and made the ground back and then some. Was enjoying using the yachts as markers and overtaking any finding themselves on the same tack as me.
Was managing to nail the tacking most goes too which pleased me and also helped keep upwind if hit any lulls.
Went in after a bit to catch up with Baydrew & VFW Mark who looked to have spent an age pontificating .... Mark had opted for 6.5m but not got around to rigging it, Baydrew was looking more 8m but unsure ... so he pounced on me as soon as I landed and looked a bit dismayed that I'd been on the 7.3m having spied some schlogging upwind action (when I could easily have been planing downwind!) ....
Had a quick drink and wind looked to be filling back in a notch so offski and outski once again for some more ... and that bit more powered up this time too which was cool. Maybe even 6.4m weather but no chance I'd be changing down .... needed to bale around 3pm and right on cue, I came in as wind lulled a bit, packed up to shoot off, just as Baydrew launched with his 8m and 125 Rocket (perhaps should be renamed as the Pevensey Slowboat?) and for all his effort, only planed a couple of times and looked a touch dejected .... Mark just packed up
Nice day to be at the beach, and quite a few other windsurfers out today having a good time. Looked like the 'summer crew' as didn't recognise many of them, but they seemed to be enjoying the conditions, and those further upwind from near the sailing club were flying about too.
Would have been windier in the blue triangle, but still a nice summer session.
Happy daze
